The Learning & Performance Summit (LEAPS2018) is happening in San Antonio, Texas Friday, September 21, 2018 from 7:30 AM-4:30 PM at the Whitely Conference Center. LEAPS is held each fall in order to offer a full range of learning options for Association of Talent Development (ATD) members as well as the local community.
The theme for LEAPS 2018 is: “Learning to the Next Degree”. The ATD San Antonio website summarizes the conference this year by saying:
“Join us in getting back to basics with skill building based on the ATD Competency Model™ and helping understand future trends in our profession. Gain insights from leading experts, into the latest trends, best practices, and new solutions. Come away with the practical knowledge, strategies, and tools to create the future for yourself and your organizations.”
It’s sure to be an event filled with wonderful learning opportunities, and we’re pleased to announce that we have been given the opportunity to feature two of our experts as speakers at LEAPS 2018! Raquel Zapata, PgMP, PMP Vice President of Consulting, Learning, and Training and Andrea Seal, MEd, a Senior Instructional Systems Designer at Innové will co-host an afternoon breakout session entitled “Leveraging Culture to Sustain Culture”. Their presentation will discuss onboarding of employees and the culture experience that results during this time.
“Initial onboarding of employees often leaves a gap of knowledge of performance, and culture assimilation. This case study explores how an organization utilized tenured employees acting as mentors or “Champions” to guide culture throughout the first 18 months of employment. Research shows an employee onboards for a year and a half. The case study explores how companies can avoid greatest turnover from 12-22 months, which can be directly tied to a splintered onboarding vs culture experience.”
